Experiences of Transference in Historical Archeology of the north La Pampa. A Reflection from Public Archeology

Abstract

In order to study the subsequent settlement to the so called Desert Campaign, since 2008 we have been developing works of historical archeology in the northern province of La Pampa (Departments of Realicó, Trenel and Chapaleufú) .In the framework of UBACyTprojects, we have been developing transfer activities that generate scientific information on this subject. In this regard, there have been talks in public spaces, schools, visits to archaeological site -by the general public as well as media- and have produced materials such as posters and brochures. Archaeological research focuses on several archaeological sites in the region. Here we will present it developed on the sites Posta el Caldén (1888-1906) y Mariano Miró (1901-1914). Understanding Public Archaeology in the broadest sense, as the relationship between archaeological practice and the current community, we intend not only to narrate these experiences transfer but also question the role of the archaeologist, the relationship between the archaeologist and the general community, in particular with the educational community in these situations. In this sense, we wonder about the impact on the communities the research, transfer and enhancement of archaeological heritage around the recognition of their past and to build their identities.
