Problematizations of Cultural Heritage in Interdisciplinary Research Historical Archaeology

Abstract

Conceptions of cultural heritage that so far operate in the work of Historical Archaeology seem supported mainly on the recognition of material objects, furniture nature or property, that happen to be regarded as “goods” subject to the rescue, preservation and study . This view has ignored alternative or more broadly consideration to human creations approaches. It has obscured other goods, the symbolic order, such as social productions of sense of reality. So, who they have generally assumed the power to define cultural heritage-and to act on their behalf are professionals in architecture, history and archeology, artists and neophytes turned-officials. This paper aims to show how the idea of identity is a social good and therefore, cultural, from an emerging community building and parallel to own hegemonic molds consumer society to define / determine the composition of a ‘US’. This shows the establishment of close coexistenceand correspondence- between worldviews and social practices of the present and the past and the redefinition of the spaces of power in the construction of knowledge. It draws on research in Canton Old Tapalqué from the Historical Archaeology and Social Anthropology works.
